Goals

Goal is a tool to monitor your metric performance : set your own objectives, track your progress and receive notifications.

Here are examples of goals that you can create:

  • My goal is to achieve a monthly revenue of 100K€ on Social media (Tiktok, Snap and Meta).

  • My goal is to generate 10K clicks in November 2023.

  • My goal is to achieve a CPA of 10€ for the Black Friday campaign.

How to access Goals?

Goals can be accessed in two ways: via the Toolbox or via the Report Builder.

Toolbox

  1. Click Toolbox in the navigation bar on the left side of the screen, then select Goals

  2. Click +Add goal to create a new goal

Report Builder

  1. Open Report Builder by creating a new report, or editing an existing report.

  2. In the Advanced widgets section, you will see the Goals widget.

  3. Simply drag and drop the Goals widget into the left side.

To set up the widget, follow these steps:

  1. Give the widget a title to provide the context, such as: Goal Tracking

  2. Then you can select which goal you want to be displayed in this widget, you can do it with filters :

    • Select the timeline (Current, Past, Future)

    • Select goals created by you or someone else in your team

    • Select goal status, for exemple:

      • On track, Under/ Over target for current goals

      • Achieved, Missed for past goals

      • Upcoming for future goals

  3. Or you can handpick which goal you want to display in this widget :

Choose one or multiple goals that you wish to add to the widget.

If you want to create a new goal, simple click on “+Add new goal” within the list of goals.

How to create a new goal?

  1. Give the goal a name

  2. Select a data source. The available options of metrics will depend on the chosen data source.

  3. Select the metric that you want to track progress.

  4. (Optional) Set a goal scope, choose the dimensions or metrics on which you want to track this goal

    For exemple,

    • You want to focus on specific countries, then in dimension,Country is France.

    • You want to focus only on campaigns whose impressions > 1000, then in metric, Impressions > 1000

    • You can combine multiple conditions.

  5. Select the goal value and corresponding period (daily, weekly, month, custom period)

  6. Specify the gap target % and indicators for when your goal is not on target.

    • For daily goal, the gap target is set between the current value and the goal value.

    • For others goals, the gap target is set between the current value and where it should be compared to the time elapsed.

    • And select to define if you want to set the goal tracking if the values goes above the target, under the target or both.

    For exemple,

    • Here the CPA is not on target when it is over (+20%) the goal value.

    • Here monthly spend, is not on target when it is up to 20% over or under the where it should be compared to the time elapsed.

    • Here monthly spend, is not on target when it is up to 20% under the where it should be compared to the time elapsed.

  7. Opt-in or out the option to subscribe to alerts if goal is not on target. If activated, you will get notified via email/ slack. You can select the delivery channel in your user settings / Notifications.

  8. Click Create

The daily goal setting is automatically applied for all non-cumulative or calculated metrics (e.g., CTR, CPC, CPA, ROAS, Impression Share...).
These metrics are calculated on an ongoing basis, so their goals cannot be configured over any specific period (e.g., weekly, monthly, or custom ranges).
Note: Only cumulative metrics (such as Spend, Revenue, Clicks, Conversions, etc.) can have goals defined over defined timeframes.

How to visualize goal progress?

There are two types of goal progress:

  • Daily goals : displaying the valued per day for one day or the average of several days.

  • Other goals with fixed terms: vs. time elapsed

  • A green bar indicates that the goal is on target. If its performance exceeds the target, a pill with the label 'Target exceeded' appears at the top.

  • A red bar indicates that the goal is not on target and requires attention.

Tips: For goals with multiple custom periods, please click on the calendar icon at the top to view the details.

How to deep dive into goal analysis?

Click on the three dots icon on the top, select View chart or Drilldown by.

  • Fixed-term goals with projection

Spyne will display the projection of this goal achievement with the current trend (linear estimate).

  • Daily goals with a calendar view

Spyne will display a calendar of the days you have met / missed your goal.

Drilldown by

You can drilldown the goal metric by any selected dimension, e.g. channel, country, campaign name. To continue your analysis further, you can open it in a pivot table.

How to add the goal to report, and subscribe to alerts?

A workspace members can access to other users’ goals and subscribe to alerts in the goal menu.

You can also add a specific goal to one of your report report by clicking on the three dots icon at the top. You have the choice to add the goal to either a new report or an existing one.

How to edit/ delete a goal?

Simply click on the three dots icon at the top to access options for editing or deleting the goal. You can only edit a goal you have created or if you are admin of the workspace.
