Pivot Table V3

Updated over 3 weeks ago

We have updated Pivot to give you faster and more stable reports. Pivot V3 is now the standard version for your account.

To give you a smooth transition, we are keeping the older versions available for a limited time while providing tools to easily copy your existing setup.

  • The older versions (V1 and V2) are now in a deprecated mode and will no longer receive updates.

  • They will remain available for a short period (31 March 2026).

  • After that date, V1 and V2 will be completely removed.

Accessing Pivot Table V3 via Report Builder

Set up a pivot table

  • Name the widget and select the data source (click here for more details)

  • Select dimensions (max 10 selected) and metrics

Order

  • Simple Sorting: Leave the "Advanced ordering" box unchecked to sort your entire table by a single rule. Just use the dropdown to select your preference:

    • By a Metric: Sort your performance numbers in ascending (lowest to highest) or descending (highest to lowest) order.

    • By a Dimension: Sort your text categories (like Campaign or Country) in alphabetical order.

  • Advanced Sorting: Check the "Advanced ordering" box when you have a complex table and need to apply different sorting rules to different columns at the same time.

    • Add Multiple Rules: Click "+ Add order" to create as many rules as you need. For each rule, you first pick a dimension, and then you choose how to sort it:

      • Sort by itself: Select l'option "Dimension Value" so you can sort a dimension logically, like ordering your "Date" column from the most recent to the oldest.

      • Sort by a metric: You can sort a dimension by metrics, like ordering your "Channel" column so the channels with the highest "Impressions" show up first.

    • Set Priorities: The table applies your rules from top to bottom, meaning the very first rule on your list has the highest priority.

    • Change or Remove Rules: You can easily change which rule is most important by grabbing the drag handle () on the left and moving it up or down. If you don't need a rule anymore, just click the trash can icon to delete it.

Limiting Your Rows

You can limit the number of rows displayed in your table to focus on your top-performing data.

  • Quick Limits: Use the dropdown menu to quickly display only the Top 5, Top 10, Top 20, or Top 50 rows based on a specific metric (like Impressions or Spend).

  • Custom Limits: If you need a specific number of rows, select "Other" and type in the exact number you want to see.

  • Show All Data: By default, your table is set to "All", which will display every row of data available.

Widget filters

Your table automatically applies global filters at the top of your report. You can also add custom filters directly to the widget itself:

  • By Dimension: Show specific data, like only the "Snapchat" channel or campaigns containing the word "Sales".

  • By Metric: Show data hitting specific targets, like only rows where "Spend" is greater than 1000.

Table Display & Layout

Customize how your data is presented using these simple toggles:

Table Display

  • Totals: Turn on Show grand total or Show total to automatically calculate your overall performance sums.

  • Ad Previews: Turn on Show ad preview to see your actual visual ads directly inside the table. (Note: You must select the "Ad Name" or "Ad ID" dimension from supported networks like Meta).

Table Layout

  • Freeze row header: Keep your main rows visible while scrolling right across wide tables.

  • Resize first column: Adjust the column width to ensure long campaign or ad names fit perfectly.

  • Tab by dimension: Organize your report into clean, clickable tabs based on a specific category.

Custom date range

The date range of the pivot table follows the date range of the report that contains the pivot table.

If you need to analyze a different timeframe for this specific table, simply activate the Custom date range toggle and use the calendar picker to select your exact dates.

⚠️ Important: Updating Your Table Preview

Unlike other widgets in your report, the Pivot Table preview does not update automatically as you make changes. To give you the smoothest experience when working with large amounts of data, you control exactly when the table updates:

  • To see and save your changes: You must click the "Apply" button at the bottom of the settings panel. This updates your preview and is required before you can add the table to a new or existing report.

  • To cancel: Click the "Back" button next to it to discard any edits you haven't applied yet.

Very Large Tables

You can view up to 20,000 rows directly on your screen. If your report contains more data than this, the preview will become unavailable. When this happens, you have two simple options:

  • Adjust your settings: Use filters or limit your rows to reduce the amount of information shown.

  • Download the full table: We can email you a link to export up to 200,000 rows. (Please note: Your download link will expire in 14 days).

Customize style

To style a widget:

  • Open the Report Builder by editing an existing report or creating a new one.

  • Drag and drop a pivot table widget onto your report

  • Select the Style tab in the widget settings panel

Personalize the look of your pivot table.

  • Widget Title: Change the text and background colors for your table's main title.

  • Headers & Footers: Customize the background and text colors for your top and bottom rows.

  • Totals: Make your "Total" and "Grand Total" rows stand out with their own background and text colors.

  • Comparisons: Pick specific colors to highlight positive and negative performance changes (like green for growth and red for a drop).

(Optional) Apply Conditional Formatting

Highlight key data points by applying a color gradient based on minimum or maximum values.

  • To apply the gradient to all columns, activate the Apply to all columns option.

  • To apply the gradient to specific columns, uncheck the Apply to all columns option. You can add more columns.

  • Color-Coding Your Data (Target Values)

Use Target Values to automatically color-code your results based on your goals, making it easy to spot top and bottom performers at a glance.

    • Set your goals: Type in the specific numbers that represent your "Under Target," "Target," and "Over Target" levels.

    • Pick your colors: Choose specific background and text colors for each level (for example, red for missing a target, and green for hitting it).

    • Apply your rules: Choose to color-code just one specific column (like "Impressions") or check the box to apply these colors to all columns at once.
